  • Tested on Windows 8.1 pro, it’s impossible to replace the originals timedate.cpl and shell32.dll because it says the files are “already in use” so i made a copy of both files in the folder and named them shell32.dll.bak and timedate.cpl.bak and i put the custom timedate.cpl and shell32.dll in a folder named 32 fort system32 folder and the 64b version in a folder named 64 for syswow64, then i made a usb boot with my OS on it and then boot on my key and accessed to my hard drive with MS-DOS, then i localized my custom files and replaced the originals and then reboot but my computer didn’t want to boot on my session anymore and the computer kept rebooting, so i get on my key, then MS-DOS and deleted the timedate.cpl from system32 and syswow64 and renamed the originals timedate.cpl.bak to timedate.cpl and then reboot again but there was still a problem, so i made the same thing for shell32.dll.bak to shell32.dll and then my system works again, proof is that i’m talking to you here 😀

So, here it goes i’m back to the start point with no custom shell32 and no custom timedate.

First i thought there might be a problem with the timedate.cpl because the custom file came from a windows 7 custom theme, but the shell32 was a modification i made myself from my own system’s shell32.dll and it didn’t worked also, too bad for me 🙁

For those people who might asks what i made to my shell32 : i changed the bitmap named 633 and added a bitmap 632 with the same picture maybe my shell32.dll didn’t worked because of that 632 bitmap and maybe only 633 bitmap custom will work completely fine but i’m not sure if i want to try this again :/
